An EP study is a diagnostic procedure that maps the heart's electrical system to identify the cause and location of abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). EP studies are often performed as a first step before a cardiac ablation procedure; when no arrhythmia is detected, the procedure is concluded without further intervention. Performing EP studies in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) provides patients with a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to hospital settings.
